James Gehr

James Andrew Gehr Loving husband of Mary (nee Piraino) passed away at home at the age of 86. He was an illustrator at the Milwaukee Journal for 12 years in the 60's and 70's and later became Creative Director at several Milwaukee ad agencies. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fly fisherman. In his youth he joined the Marines and later was an A.F. fighter pilot in the Korean War. He and Val Thielan started the Bonniwell Art Fair, WI.'s first outdoor art fair in the 60's. Loving father to Colleen Lammers, Heather, James R., Patrick (Jill), Jennifer (Mike) Gile, Kathy (Harold) Sommerfeldt and Michael and grandfather and great grandfather to their children. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Preceded in death by his parents James and Ruth (nee Andrews) Gehr, his brother Larry Gehr, his daughter Mary Ruth Gehr and his grandson Jesse Gehr. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday May 9th 2015 at 12:00 pm at Lumen Christi Catholic Church 11300 N. St. James Ln., Mequon. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until time of Mass.In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations to Dominican High School would be appreciated.
