James (Jim) Schlieve was Born to Eternal Life on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at the age of 71. Jim is survived by his children Chris (Laura) Schlieve, Courtney (Jacob) Blei, and Kevin Schlieve. His loving sister Sue Haessly. Nephews Mike (Carrie) Haessly, Steve (Jane) Haessly. And his amazing grandchildren, Carter Schlieve and Hazel James Blei. Along with so many other wonderful family and friends who loved and supported him throughout his life. He is proceded in death by his Mom and Dad, Ivy (Ivanell Davey) and Frank Schlieve. As well as his brother-in-law Tom Haessly.
Jim went to St. Margaret Mary grade school in Milwaukee and then attended Francis Jordan High School for 2 years until its closing and then transferred to Dominican High School where he graduated in 71'. He played baseball all 4 years pitching for the Varsity team. He earned an athletic letter at both Francis Jordan and Dominican making him apart of the Letterman's Club. Baseball would be a love and passion for him the rest of his life. And since Jim was one for theatrics he was proudly in the Senior Class play The Mouse That Roared. After high school he attended the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee studying education.
He later worked at Carbide Tools and then TJ Grinding.
Sports was significant in Jim's life. His family were ticket holders for Marquette College basketball. He loved going to games as a child and then being able to take his own family later in life to share in some amazing wins was something he treasured. Of course there's the Milwaukee Brewers being a summer staple for him. Tailgating was a must and to be taken very seriously. We don't think it's just a coincidence that they're doing as well as they are as I'm sure they're getting help from one of their biggest fans from above. And definitely not forgetting the love he had for the Packers, even naming his yellow lab Brett.
Family, friends, a great bourbon, and Bruce Springsteen meant everything to him. The OFTEN told story of him being at the historic show at Milwaukee's Uptown Theatre on October 2, 1975 after the concert was stopped due to a bomb threat, will be a memory never forgotten. It was one of the greatest nights in his life. Even though his love for Bruce was fierce, the love he had for his grandchildren was unmatched. There was no place he would have rather been then with them. Being their Grandpa/Pa brought so much love and joy to his life.
You are so loved and deeply missed. Using a phrase he often said from one of his favorite movies, "The Dude abides" -The Big Lebowski
