Jayne Slyman

August 23, 1954 — October 5, 2023

JAYNE ELEANOR SLYMAN August 23, 1954 - October 5, 2023 Jayne was born on Staten Island, New York to Roger and Virginia Mullin. She was the twin sister to Joyce (d. 2016). The Twins were the middle children between Karen the eldest daughter and the youngest, Nancy. Jayne received her Associate's Degree in Interior Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. One of her first jobs was at an ice cream shop on Wall Street. In 1981, she moved to Gaston, South Carolina and after sixteen years of trying she finally had Shannon in 1991 and then Gavin in 1993. During their childhood she was a dutiful soccer mom supplying an endless amount of orange slices at half-time. Jayne worked as Distribution Supervisor at Continental American Insurance Co. until 2010 in Columbia, SC. She then was as Diabetic Supplier for Medical Services of America from 2011 to 2020. She also worked part time as a Survey Supervisor for the University of South Carolina from 2003 to 2020. She expressed her artistry through stained glass and ceramics. Never turning down the chance to help someone, some weekends were spent fixing up homes much to the chagrin of her children. They'd spend the long hours painting walls listening to audiobooks on tape. Summers would often be spent visiting Joyce and her children in New Jersey. Every Christmas she would make Fattigmon (Norwegian fried cookie) and always had to make a double batch to give to friends. Being an animal lover and the family home was filled with cats, dogs and the single long living hermit crab. Jayne was diagnosed with Early On-set Alzheimer's in late 2021 and then relocated to Wisconsin in 2022 to be closer to her kids. In her final year, she took to doing hook latch rugs, painting watercolors and winning most games of bowling with the family.
