November 23, 1927 - January 9, 2025
Jean Helen Westra Oldham went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 9, 2025. She was born to John and Nellie Westra, of Waupun, Wisconsin. She graduated from Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and taught school in Patterson, New Jersey and Chicago, Illinois before marrying Oliver Oldham of California. They finally settled in Monona, Wisconsin and raised 5 children. Jean taught in the Madison area, and was a school librarian for 32 years. Jean was also a gifted musician, playing many instruments, and organ for church services.
Jean is survived by her 5 children: Steve (ex Vicki Oldham) Oldham, Nola (Tim) Nielsen, Joy (Anton) Vermaak, Oliver (Susan) Oldham, and Sally (Mark) Buffat; 11 grand children, and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, her husband, older brother Donald Westra, and 3 sisters--Mae Westra, Helen Kaiser, and Maesel Sterk.
We can take comfort in knowing that those who have lived in our hearts are never really gone. A service will be held January 20, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., at Oakwood Village East Memorial Chapel (5565 Tancho Dr, Madison). Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakwood Foundation or Trinity Lutheran Church.
