Jeanne Gipp

July 2, 1931 — July 7, 2024

Jeanne D Gipp (Minnick) Died peacefully of natural causes at 93 years of age on Sunday, July 7, 2024, after a full day with family by her side. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, on July 2, 1931, the daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Mueller) Minnick.  Jeanne graduated at the top of her class from Washington Park High School, Racine, WI, in 1949. Jeanne met the love of her life, Robert W. Gipp, at the Eagles Club Ballroom in Milwaukee.   They married at St. Peters Church in Milwaukee on August 26, 1950. They bought their first home at 72nd and Carmen; and their second home on N. 107th Street in Milwaukee.  In 1976, they moved to DeCarlin Drive in Brookfield. Jeanne was a devoted wife, raising her eventual eight children (five boys and three girls). Besides raising her children, Jeanne had many passions including drawing, painting, crafting, sewing, and writing educational literature. Jeanne loved to help people in her customer service work at Gimbles Department Store and later as a teacher's aide for Parkview Elementary in Milwaukee. She served her faith by volunteering at church as a Sunday school teacher, eventually becoming the youth education director, and then the Church Secretary at Unity Church.   She retired at age 65. In retirement, Jeanne's creativity branched into a small business, writing, illustrating, selling, and printing various children's books.  Her business remained active until she was around 90 years old. Jeanne enjoyed watching her family grow throughout her life. She also enjoyed traveling to various destinations in her later years, including fulfilling a lifelong dream by traveling to China with her daughter Nancy in 2007.  The highlight was climbing to the top of the Great Wall of China.  She also traveled to Colorado where she went to the top of Pikes Peak and visited the Garden of the Gods.  Another road trip was Unity Village in Missouri with her son Ken and daughter-in-law Sue.  Jeanne's last trip was to Arkansas to visit the Hot Springs National Park Bathhouses with her son Roger. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Elizabeth (Mueller) Minnick, her stepmother Edna Minnick, her husband Robert W. Gipp, her brother Glenn Minnick, her stepsister Marcia Short, her son Bruce W. Gipp, and her grandsons Robert E. Gipp and Christopher J. Urick. Loving wife to Robert W. Gipp for 71 years. Beloved mother of Bruce (Yvonne) Gipp, David (Katie) Gipp, Roger Gipp, Kenneth (Susan) Gipp, Mary (Randy) Urick, Nancy (the late Joseph) Cocking, Betty Novy, Karl (Amanda) Gipp. Grandma of 18, and Great-Grandma of 17. Further survived by her sister Elaine Konrad and half-sister Catherine Krueger. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Wisconsin Memorial Park (Main Building), 13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebratory service in the Chapel of the Chimes at 11:00 a.m. where the family will welcome the sharing of memories. She will be laid to rest with her husband Robert W. Gipp in the Wisconsin Memorial Park Gardens of Eternal Life columbarium. Psalm 91:2  "I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust."
