Jerome Didier

October 19, 1939 — July 10, 2025

Jerome "Jerry" Victor Didier, a beloved husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, godfather, andfriend to many, passed away on July 10, 2025, in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. He was born on October 19, 1939, at the home of his grandparents, Hubert and Mary Didier, on the family farm in Dacada, Wisconsin. He was raised in Saukville, where his family had deep roots. In 1961, Jerry married the love of his life, JoAnn Didier. The two shared 64 beautiful years together until JoAnn's passing in August 2024. Together they raised three loving children, six grandchildren, and provided a safe haven in a supportive community to countless others. Jerry started out his career in the grocery business in high school. He worked at National Foods in Port Washington, before being called up to proudly serve in the Army National Guard out of West Bend in 1961 as a Photography Specialist. Jerry proudly displayed his Red Arrow banner on his door until the end of his life, and loved sharing stories and photos from his time in the service. Upon his return in 1965, he found his way back to National Foods, quickly becoming a grocery store manager, and moving to Kohl's Foods in the early 1970s. His career took him to stores throughout Milwaukee, later managing stores in Mequon, and eventually, Grafton. Being a manager in his own community created a unique roll as mentor and friend to those around him. A former teacher at GHS used to refer to the students that worked at Kohl's as "Jerry's Kids," meant as a silly pun, to make the kids laugh—yet was the absolute truth. If Jerry was looking out for you, you were covered. Through his work, Jerry touched many lives, more than he may have ever realized. Countless people have shared with his children how their father was a steady, guiding presence in their lives. After retiring from Kohl's, he continued to work at Shopko in Grafton, always greeting others with a warm "Hi, how are you?" Jerry had a passion for sports and enjoyed playing on senior softball, horseshoe, and volleyball leagues. Amongst his fondest memories, was getting a Hutch Burger and a beer after his softball games. After moving to Hamilton House Assisted Living, he quickly helped start a weekly Wednesday night Sheepshead card game, and was an active participant with the Hamilton Hustlers, leading in mobility games. Leaving a mark wherever he went, the Hustlers were excited to keep Jerry's decorative garden gnome as a mascot in his memory. They named him, "Jerome The Gnome." Jerry and JoAnn were deeply involved in their children's lives. Jerry proudly served as President of Grafton Music Parents, as well as serving on the swim team board. Beyond being an enthusiastic supporter of his children's sporting and musical events, he was also an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. He and JoAnn were proud grandparents to six beautiful children. They rarely missed a meet, recital, or event involving their lives, always showing up with love and support. The Didier home was known as a welcome place—for friends, family, and even pets—especially for those in need of a place to stay or a home for the holidays. Jerry is survived by his children: Dina (John) Braun, Dane (Cassandra) Didier, and Dan (Danie Hassman) Didier; grandchildren: Rae Fox, Sophia Didier, Camryn Christman, Avery Didier,Miette and Wren Didier; brothers: Frank (Eunice), Jim (Sue), and Pete (Judy) Didier; sisters: Vicky (Myron) Graff and Sue Hespe; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, JoAnn; his parents, Victor and Suzanne Didier; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald (Renee) Didier; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jane (Edward "Bud") Boehm, Geraldine (Teddy), Geraldette (Dean), and Linda Winnemuller. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all who supported Jerry and JoAnn over the years. Special thanks to the compassionate staff at Hamilton House Senior Living, who cared for Jerry and his family with kindness during his final days. A very special thank you to Jerry's goddaughter and niece, Sally Vincevineus, his "angel who saved his life. Funeral services will be held on August 29, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Church, 145 W. Church Street, Saukville WI. 53080. Visitation will be from 10:00-12:00, church service at 12:00.
