Jul 28, 1967 — Sep 9, 2026

Brookfield

Of Brookfield, WI. Jim Velier, age 59, died from a cardiac arrythmia September 9, 2026. A native of West Allis, Wisconsin he played trumpet at Nathan Hale High School and in the UW Wisconsin marching band. Jim discovered California during grad school (UCLA) for neuroscience. The endless days of sunshine mesmerized this midwesterner. During his life in San Diego he became a plant expert and street photographer. No story of Jim would be complete without writing about his love of the bike. He was happiest on his bike riding for hours among the hot dry foothills of the San Diego east county. Jim is survived by his wife of 35 years, Julie Ellison Velier; his sister, Geri (Dan) Voboril; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
