Joan Wotta

December 22, 1928 — October 10, 2018

Wotta, Joan Helen (Nee Olenchek) Born into Eternal Life on October 10, 2018 at the age of 89. Loving mother of Paul (Diane) Wotta. Proud grandmother of Michael (Laura) and Patrick (Amy). Great grandmother to Zachery, Hailey, Theodore and Vivian. Further survived by brother Bernard (Rita) Olenchek, sister Rose McGrath, many nieces and nephews, and other loving family members and friends. Preceded in death by her beloved husband Raymond, great granddaughter Liliana, sisters and in-laws Mary Ann (Larry) Gendrich, Catherine (Louie) Smead, Jerome Holmstead, Gerald McGrath and nephew Richard Smead. Joan began her career as an executive assistant at Allis Chalmers upon graduation from Pius XI high school and became exceedingly proficient at short hand dictation. Even in her last days, she was still writing herself notes in short hand. Joan's second career was teaching English as a second language at Milwaukee Area Technical College at the West Allis campus. She took great pleasure in seeing each student excel with the English language and formed many lasting friendships with her former students. Joan was also a life time member of the "International Cord Rosary Center". Over her lifetime she made thousands of cord rosaries by hand that were donated to those in need. Joan will also be remembered for her love of riding her bike, her raspberry jam, her canned pickles and the homemade bread that she shared with family and friends. Joan spent the last 6 years of her life at New Perspective Assisted Living in Roseville, Minnesota. We would like to thank staff members who cared for her as her memory faded but her vitality for life remained. Your patience, understanding and dedication to the care of our mother is greatly appreciated. Staff members and residents will forever remember the "triple blessings" and the "happy new year" greeting all year long. We would also like to thank the lay ministers from St. Odilia parish who performed the Catholic service at the assisted living facility every Sunday. Joan's Catholic faith was very important to her and having this service provided her comfort and allowed her to continue to practice her faith until her final days. Visitation will be held Monday October 15, 2018 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Schramka Funeral Home. 13220 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield WI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday October 16, 2018 at 10:00AM at St Augustine's Catholic Church. 6762 W Rogers St, West Allis, WI. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. 3801 W Morgan Ave, Milwaukee, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials will be donated to The Marian Shrine.
