It is with sorrowful hearts that we mourn the loss of a beloved mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother and great-great-grandmother.
Katharina (Katherine) Helena Schuh nee Guenzler passed away on April 15, 2020. She passed from underlying health conditions due to Covid-19. She was 84 years old.
Katherine was born on March 25, 1936 in Florsheim am Main, Germany. Daughter of the late Adam Guenzler and the late Elisabeth Schoening nee Theis. She arrived to America by sea after World War II, when she lost her father during the war in 1947.
She was married to the late Rodney Schuh Sr., on November 26, 1955. She had four children: Rodney Jr., Joey, Heidi and Linda.
Katherine was home-maker for most of her years, but for 20 years, she worked for the school district of Menomonee Falls as a custodian. Over that time, she made many friendships with those whom she encountered. She always had a kind word or smile to offer to everyone. One such example of her genuine kindness was shown during her trips to the grocery store. She never missed an opportunity to compliment the cashier who would help her, offering up a cheerful, "You're so pretty / handsome", or "how do you pronounce your name?" "It's beautiful!" Even the person bagging up her purchase was not left out. A simple 'thank you' was never sufficient for Katherine. She would always add, "thank you for bagging up my groceries".
She was very fond of dogs. Her favorite breeds were Chihuahua, and in the later years of her life, Dachshund. She was a fond advocate of adopting her dogs from Dog Rescue locations. That is how she discovered her latest companion, Fritzi; a 5 year old mix of Dachshund and Feist. Fritzi was a faithful companion to Katherine for 4 years. Due to her health challenges, Fritzi was adopted out in March of 2020 to a new family of loving owners, where he'd have the best chance of a fulfilled life. Katie also loved spending time building and enjoying her flower garden. Anyone who came over for a visit was offered the chance to see and admire it.
Ultimately, her world always revolved around her four children, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Even during her most challenging times, she was deeply concerned about their well-being. She was selfless, always focused on everyone else at all times, and never wanting to be a burden to anyone.
Katherine is survived by her brother, Edwin (Winnie) Schoening. Her children: Rodney Schuh Jr. (Gail), Joey Schuh, Heidi Lamkin nee Schuh (Mark) and Linda Montez nee Schuh (Peter). Her grandchildren: Barbara Schuh, Heather Schuh, Michael Schuh, Ryan Schuh, Alexander Lamkin, Brandon Montez, Nicholas Montez and Isabella Montez. Her great-grandchildren: Felicia Tierney nee Goetz (Jon), Valentino (Kane) Goetz, Haley Goetz, Johnny Nieskes, Brendan
Pezewski, Angelina Michelle Dee Stuck, Arieanna Moore, Azriel Moore, Mackhaeus Moore and Havana Williams. Her great-great-grandchildren: Kylie Rae Tierney and Penelope Jae Tierney.
Special friends to Katherine: Karyl Dobbins, Simone Rogina, Katherine Kirk, Paxton Ketner, Rick Stuettgen, Cliff and Karen Joost and Bob and Pat Krick.
Katherine was preceded in death by her father Adam Guenzler, her mother Elisabeth nee Theis, her brother Edward Schoening, her sister Francis Schoening and her husband Rodney Schuh Sr.
The love and light that she carried was always on display for all to witness. She was our number one. She will be forever missed.
A private burial service will be held. A very special memorial celebration will take place at a
later time, to be announced.
