Kathryn Murphy

August 17, 1945 — August 5, 2020

Went to Heaven to be with her Lord on Wed., Aug. 5, 2020, at the age of 74. Loving wife of John Murphy for 51 years. Cherished Aunt and Godmother of Pamela (Eric) Dillman and James (LaVonne) Schleicher. Proud Great-Aunt of Nicholas, Zachary, Breanna, Joseph, Bailey, Jesse, Ethan and Olivia. Dear Great-Great-Aunt of five. She is further survived by her brother-in-law, Gary Schleicher; many other relatives and friends. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, James and Carrie Mae Strickland; siblings, Thomas (Sara) Strickland and Barbara Ann Schleicher. Kathryn was born in Charleston, South Carolina. While there she attended South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind. Once she moved to Wisconsin she attended Delavan School for the Deaf. Kathryn worked at Herslof Optical for 36 years. Kathryn stepped into the Mom role when her beloved sister Barbara Ann passed to help raise her niece Pamela and nephew James. Kathryn loved everything to do with family, especially loved holidays. She loved to go camping, go on cruises, travel with her husband, John and friends and was an avid beanie babies collector. She loved to play bingo and go to events at the Greater Milwaukee Association of the Deaf. She was a devoted Christian and was a member of The Emmanual Lutheran Church for the Deaf; where she enjoyed being a part of the choir. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13th from 1:00PM until 5:00PM at the Schramka Funeral Home, 13220 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield. Private services and burial will be held.
