Kevin Joseph Schmitt, age 65, of Jackson, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, with his loving family by his side.
Kevin was born on November 12, 1959, in Hartford, Wisconsin, to parents Matthias and Dolores Schmitt. He attended St. Hubert's Catholic School from kindergarten through eighth grade and later graduated from Hartford High School.
From a young age, Kevin devoted himself to farming, a passion that became his lifelong work. He loved the land and the life it provided, and he carried that same devotion into his family. In 2001, Kevin married Elaine, and together they built a beautiful life. He lovingly embraced her two daughters, Kristin and Jennifer, raising them as his own, and later welcomed a son, Andrew. To his family, Kevin was more than a husband and father — he was truly the best father in the world.
Kevin's greatest joy came from time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was a proud grandpa to Mason, son of Jennifer, and Gage, son of Kristin. His family remembers him as steady, supportive, and always there to cheer them on.
Kevin lived a full and active life. He enjoyed bowling, camping, hiking, kayaking, and playing and watching sports — especially football, volleyball, and baseball. He was also a lover of Western movies and spent over 30 years faithfully writing in his journals. His simple joys and hobbies reflected his adventurous spirit and thoughtful nature.
Kevin is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine; children, Kristin, Jennifer (Brock), and Andrew; grandchildren, Mason and Gage; and his siblings Patricia (Roland), Keith, Kurtis, Kent, Pamela, Kim (Christine), Peggy (Jim), Paula (Mark), and Penny (Alissa). He is also survived by his in-laws Jerome, Donald (Phillys), and Linda (Bob), as well as brothers-in-law Jake (Janice) and Jerry (Dianne) along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law Janice and Dianne, as well as his parents, Matthias and Dolores, and in-laws George and Evelyn Kosterman
Funeral service for Kevin will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at St. Frances Cabrini, in West Bend. A private Burial will take place the following day.
Kevin will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family.
