Kurt Stammich

September 12, 1961 — March 18, 2022

Kurt Stammich of Greenfield, Wisconsin, formerly of Chicago, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 18, 2022, at St. Luke's hospital in Milwaukee. Kurt passed with his brother Eric and his friend Jim Button by his side. He was 60 years old. Kurt was born on September 12, 1961 in Chicago. He was the second of three sons of Ronald and Marilynn (Motzer) Stammich. He attended Pilgrim Lutheran Grade School and Luther North High School in Chicago. During his early school years, Kurt was an avid reader, a Boy Scout, sang in choirs, and even won an opportunity to play Bozo Buckets in Chicago. Kurt was in the school choir and played football during his high school years. After high school, Kurt earned his bachelor's degree at Valparaiso University, where he was a member of the chapel choir and the Delta Theta Phi pre-law fraternity. Kurt then earned his Juris Doctor at John Marshall Law School in Chicago. Kurt's law career provided him many years of enjoyment as a real estate attorney at the Law Offices of John Cheveriat, an attorney at Chicago Title Insurance/Fidelity National Title Insurance, and as insurance defense counsel with Allstate. Kurt, an intelligent and learned man, also had a generous and loving heart. His passions in life beyond his career included reading, cooking, history, gadgets, 1960s and 1970s classic rock music, road trips and traveling, deer and duck hunting, skiing, singing, collecting, and being with his friends. Kurt was always happiest when he was with his friends, whether hunting at the family Stubbe farm, road-tripping, skiing, or just hanging out; and during the years that his precious dog Pepper, who was like a child to Kurt, was with him. Kurt is preceded in death by his father, Ronald Carl Stammich. Those left to honor Kurt's memory include his mother Marilynn; his brothers Eric and Greg; his nephews Jeremy, Joshua and Jacob Stammich and his nieces Jennifer and Hillary Stammich; his beloved fraternal brothers and friends since College, Mark (Dawn) Wallace, Tim (LeAnn) Balko, and Jim (Miss Judy) Button and their families (Kurt was Uncle Kurt to their children); and beloved friends Omar Esparza, Dieter Seifert, Pat and Sue Sheehan, and Morley Schlesinger. Visitation is being held at Schramka Funeral Home in Thiensville, WI on April 2, 2022 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am and from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
