Lavaun Mueller

Lavaun Hope Zehner Mueller (nee Adams) of New Berlin. Born February 6th, 1944. Passed away peacefully May 9th, 2024. She was the 4th child of Wellington and Helen Adams. Lavaun was a 1962 graduate of West Division High School in Milwaukee. Preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: June, Gale, Joyce, Naurine, Robert, Lois, Maudella, William and Jonathon, and her children: Shannon and Quinton. Survived by her sibling: Beecher (Judy), her children: Brenda and Becky Zehner, and Job Mueller, her grandchildren: Danny and Shannon (Sarah) Emmer and many nieces and nephews, family and friends. Lavaun began her career as a foster parent after reading an article in the Milwaukee Journal. Along with her husband Bill, Lavaun added 2 sisters into their family of 3 young daughters. Shortly after, Lavaun received a call stating a special needs child was available for placement. Thus began her specialty of fostering mentally and physically disabled children and adults. She worked for Milwaukee and Waukesha counties from 1974 until 2018 taking in numerous children. A newspaper article from 1987 had the amount of children at 53, and she fostered children for 30+ years after. Lavaun enjoyed: listening to country music and gospel music, singing, spending time talking to family and friends, watching her shows, and sewing. Lavaun's family would like to send a special thank you to Sheila and her staff at Renaissance Senior Living Memory Care in New Berlin, WI and Vesta Senior Network. They also want to thank Pro-Medica (Heartland) Hospice for all their help. The color of the foster care ribbon is blue, we encourage anyone attending the service to wear blue in honor of Lavaun and her almost 50 years of service as a foster parent in Waukesha and Milwaukee counties in Wisconsin. Her service will be on Thursday, May 16th at Scramka Funeral Home 13220 W. Capital Drive in Brookfield, WI. Viewing will be from 3pm - 5pm with the service at 5pm.
