Leann "Lee" Uecker Ziemer of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, born May 20th, 1957, died peacefully after a valiant fight against ALS on March 11th, 2022. Her life was filled with laughter, light, and love, provided by those family and friends that she held so dear.
She is survived by father Bob Uecker (Judy); daughter Kelsey Ziemer (Becca); sister Sue Uecker, brother Bob Uecker Jr. (Cathy); nieces Nichole Uecker, Tori Bennett (Austin), and Emily Uecker; great-nieces Caela Uecker, and Sophie Bennett; great-nephew Connor Bennet, and many close relatives and cherished friends.
Born to proud parents Bob and Joyce Uecker, Leann was the oldest of four children, Steven Uecker, Sue Uecker, and Bob Uecker Jr., and loved to share stories of their childhood antics.
After graduating from Menomonee Falls High School, she went on to work as a bartender at the Milwaukee Hyatt, making life-long friends as she did so. In June of 1988, she met Robert Ziemer while working as a travel agent for American Appraisal Associates. The two married and later moved to New York where they had a daughter, Kelsey, whom Leann devoted her entire life and heart to. When the couple separated, Leann moved back to Wisconsin in 1999 with her daughter and began building their lives in Cedarburg as a single mother.
Working tirelessly to create a steady life, Leann earned her Special Education Program Aide License and started at Thorson Elementary School as a Special Ed. teacher's aide. Affectionately known as "Mrs. Z", her patience and kindness put her kids at ease, and working with them was one of her life's proudest achievements. After several incredible years, she moved to Cedarburg High School to continue working as a special ed. aide before retiring two years later.
Leann's generous spirit and wicked sense of humor naturally drew people to her, and she would often leave nail or hair salon appointments with new friends and plans to meet up later for drinks. She was always known to have multiple packs of gum in her purse, and her love for chocolatey sweets was rivaled only by her love for coffee. Her passion for words and books kept her world interesting and her mind sharp, and it was a love she tenderly passed down to her daughter through silly word games, bedtime stories, and well-stocked bookshelves. Leann's legacy will live on through the unconditional love she gave to the people in her life.
