Leon Perkins, Sr., of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026. He was 89 and would have celebrated his 90th birthday on July 9th.
Leon was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his children (Barbara Degeler) and his beloved wife, Doris (Redzinski) who passed in 2008, and his son Ron in 2022. He is lovingly remembered by his sons, Lee (Kathy), Jon (Tammy), and his daughter-in-law, Dorothy.
A devoted grandfather, Leon leaves behind four grandchildren: Christine (Chip), Dave (Samantha), Josh, and Cody. He was also a proud great-grandfather to Jackson and Stella, who brought him tremendous joy.
Special friends Patty, Rachel, Judy and Bill were continuously supportive and the center of his world during recent years. Leon could never thank them enough for their love and friendship.
Born and raised in southeast Wisconsin, Leon spent his early years growing up on a farm in Walworth County, Wisconsin before eventually settling in Milwaukee, where he raised his family and built a life centered on hard work, dedication, and love. He spent more than 60 years in the home he cherished, taking great pride in maintaining his yard, decorating at Christmas, and creating lasting memories with family and friends.
Leon began his career managing several grocery stores, including Kohl’s and East Side Foods. Later, he fulfilled his entrepreneurial dream by founding Quality Plus Floor Cleaning. He successfully operated the business for many years with the help of his son Ron and grandson Dave, building not only a respected company but a family legacy of hard work and commitment.
Family was at the center of Leon’s life. His home reflected that love, with walls lined with photographs documenting generations of family memories. He found immense happiness watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow and celebrating their accomplishments.
Leon was a devoted dog lover who believed every dog deserved a wonderful life. His faithful pups were treasured companions throughout the years.
A lifelong Wisconsin sports fan, Leon could always be found cheering on the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers. Baseball held a special place in his heart and rarely missed a game. His home became a collection of sports memorabilia gathered over the years, each piece telling a story of his passion for the teams he loved.
Leon will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his devotion to family, his generous heart, and the pride he took in the life he built. His presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Leon’s life will be held where family and friends are invited to gather and honor his memory.
