Leonard Mohr

December 11, 1945 — November 19, 2023

Leonard F. Mohr, "Lenny" Born to life December 11, 1945, died peacefully with loved ones by his side, November 19, 2023 at 77 years old.  Preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Ruth Mohr, and by his son, Richard Mohr. Survived by life partner Linda Corrao.  Children Todd Mohr (Jessica), and Laura Garcia.  Four granddaughters, Alyssa Mohr, Lydia Garcia, Iris Garcia (Arthur Mason), and Naomi Hinojosa (Jose).  Nine great-grandchildren, Augustine, Legend, Osvaldo, Aurelio, Lotus, Nadia, Isidro, Onyx, Salvador, and a new baby on the way.  Also survived by siblings Gwendolyne Kerchefski of Rhinelander, and Phillip S. Mohr (Jean) of West Allis.  Special friend of the family, Leroy Moore.  Many other dear relatives and friends. Lenny worked at Teledyne Wisconsin Motors, and Wisconsin State Fair, until he retired at age 65.  Throughout his working life, he also worked as a bartender from time to time, which he enjoyed. As a young man, Lenny was an avid skier, and was an instructor at Blizzard Ski Club, even traveled to Austria to ski.  He loved to share his enthusiasm for the slopes with anyone interested in learning. Lenny loved to have a huge gathering on his birthday each year.  The menu was always the same - grilled hot dogs, and cake – and whatever else his friends and family would bring to share for the event.  Everyone would meet at his favorite bar and spend the day celebrating. Lenny loved to gather with friends to play cards, whether at a bar, someone's kitchen table, at a family party, or at a "church smoker".  He was happy to be the 5 th player to get a game of Sheepshead going. Lenny loved fishing, especially in Rhinelander, but any lake or river with good fishing spots was fair game.  Over the years, friends and family would make the journey to Rhinelander and have many good stories to tell.  He enjoyed fly-in fishing trips in Canada, until his health prevented it. He appreciated classic cars, went to many car shows over the years.  After retirement, got his own hot rod, a 1948 Chevy, which, with his nephew Joe, he helped to rebuild.  Lenny could be seen and heard cruising around town, visiting family and friends.  Sometimes it turned into a scenic ride on a summer day, it was big fun to show up at Kopp's in Grandpa's hot rod and see heads turn. Lenny remained interested in the Windorff relatives of his former wife, (the late) Betty Jane Ratz.  He kept the family in his heart and enjoyed hearing about their adventures and accomplishments. Lenny and Linda shared decades of love and adventure together.  They adopted many dogs over the years.  Each dog lived a comfortable life with much love, and had many trips around town to meet new friends, as well as summers in Rhinelander.  All their dogs were from various Humane Societies except Jack, who is still watching out for Linda. Lenny enjoyed being out and about.  Almost everywhere he went, he would run into someone he knew.  He loved visiting with people and have plenty of laughs.  With all the activities he did, he certainly will be missed by the numerous people in his life. The family would like to thank the kind and caring staff of Villa of Greenfield, Adon and all the St. Croix Hospice Care staff for their compassionate care to help Lenny live comfortably during his final days. In lieu of flowers, and in tribute to Lenny's love of dogs, please consider an In Memoriam donation in Lenny's name to your local animal shelter. There will be a graveside service at 10:00 AM on Saturday, December 9 th , 2023 at Highland Memorial Park, 14875 W. Greenfield Avenue, New Berlin, WI.
