Lois Ann (Porth) Goodrich was called into eternal life by her Heavenly Father on June 3, 2026, at the age of 90. Lois was an eight-year resident of Fairway Knoll in Germantown, Wisconsin. She passed peacefully after a year-long battle with congestive heart failure.
Lois was born on May 16, 1936, in Milwaukee to Frank and Hattie Porth, and had two older brothers, Marvin and Raymond. Although her family was not religious, Lois felt curious about God, and as a young girl walked to a neighborhood Lutheran church and enrolled herself in Sunday school.
Lois attended Washington High School, graduating in 1954. She maintained lifelong friendships with her classmates, serving on her reunion committee and making a point to stay connected with old friends. She regularly met with classmates, wrote letters to those she had not seen in years, and even attended a high school friend’s 90th birthday party just a few months ago. Long-lasting friendships and meaningful connections with the people she cared about were among the things Lois valued most.
Lois married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Bridges, in May 1956. Together they welcomed two daughters, Lori and Christy. Tragically, Tom passed away from kidney disease in the prime of his life, leaving Lois to raise their young daughters on her own. She worked a variety of jobs to support her family and was determined to provide her girls with the best childhood possible.
In 1971, Lois married Gerry Goodrich, beginning a loving 47-year marriage. Together they continued raising a family and welcomed a son, Eric. Lois transitioned into the role of homemaker, but she never stopped volunteering or working part-time jobs. She loved staying busy almost as much as she loved caring for others.
For many years, Lois volunteered at a variety of nursing homes. She even opened her home during Christmas to residents who had no family with whom to celebrate. She found boundless joy in helping the elderly and sharing her faith and love with those who needed it most.
Even after moving to Fairway Knoll, Lois continued to serve others. She wrote a regular column for the community newsletter, read daily announcements for a time, and served as the librarian for several years. She always found purpose and joy in helping those around her.
Lois was the definition of a survivor. She was a child of the Great Depression and World War II. As a young adult, she lost her mother. She endured the loss of two loving husbands. She survived breast cancer. Throughout her life, she experienced the loss of family and friends, yet she never lost her faith in God or her love for those around her.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Lori and Christy (Tom); her son, Eric (Christine); and her four beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Arabella, and Aurora.
