Lyman "Toby" Nygaard, 84
Nygaard, Lyman Van, "Toby", Age 84, of Thiensville, passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side, on February 19, 2016. He will be incredibly missed by many family members and friends.
He was born in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin on May 26, 1931, to the late Gerhardt and Mable (nee Lewiston) Nygaard. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 62 years, Shirley (nee LeMay) of Milwaukee. Toby is the caring father of daughters Pamela (Randy) Ray of Thiensville, WI, Paula (Don) of Port Washington, WI, Penny (Parry) Shuster of North Carolina, and son Paul (Mary) of Thiensville, WI. He's the proud grandfather of Allison, Kimberly, Jamie, Jarrod, Dana, Will, Elizabeth and Emily, and great grandfather of ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter Pamela Ray, daughter-in-law Mary Nygaard, sisters June (Forrest) Clark, Grace (Orville) Peterson, Mae (Norbert) Morrison, and brother Norman. Toby spent his childhood in Oconto, Wisconsin, graduating from Oconto HS, class of 1950. He then honorably served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska, Aleutian Islands and Arizona. He spent his professional career in administration and accounting, retiring in 1995 from Philipp Lithographing Company, Grafton, WI.
Toby loved music, dancing, his Packers and his family. He was always ready with the appropriate "grandpa joke" for any occasion and never passed up a good polka with his granddaughters at family gatherings.
Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation to celebrate Toby's life on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Schramka-Densow Funeral Home, 423 N. Main Street, Thiensville, WI.
