Madelyn M. (Mal) Maline (nee Maney), age 87, of Milwaukee, died peacefully and comfortably under the care of hospice servers at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, WI, on Friday, March 18, 2016.
Mal was born in LaCrosse, WI, August 29, 1928. She graduated from Lodi High School and received a degree in home economics from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. She married her loving husband of 58 years William E. (Bill) Maline on June 14, 1958.
Mal and Bill met at Hartford High School where she taught home economics and he taught English. She left full time teaching to raise her family. Later she took several part time jobs. She was a taste-tester and recipe developer for the Henri's Food Products Co. and an appliance store demonstrator of the new-fangled technology of cooking with a gas flame for the Wisconsin Gas Co. She returned to teaching part time at MATC, often using her loving family as subjects for experimental recipes. She had such a bond with her MATC students she continued to meet with them for a monthly lunch for several years following retirement. She happily donated many hours to the parish office at Corpus Christi / Blessed Savior Catholic Church and to the Agape Community Center food program. She loved people and many, many people loved her. Her greetings and goodbyes always included a big hug and kiss. Of her many careers, her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother are what she loved the most. Her kindness, compassion, and loving nature will be greatly missed.
Mal is survived by her husband Bill of Germantown, children Patrick Maline of Germantown, Robert (Heather) Maline of Hudson, John Maline (George Gonzalez) of Dallas, and Ann Maline (Bryan Buchman) of Waunakee, and grandchildren Shawn, Jacob, Audrey, and Mallory, sister-in-law Sheila Wise of Miami and a loving extended family. She is predeceased by her parents T.R. & Lillian Maney of Lodi and brothers Robert (Mary) Maney of Pensacola Beach, Tom (Blanche) Maney of Stevens Point, and Jack (Lorraine) Maney of Gulf Breeze, and by in-laws James (Bev) Maline of Milwaukee, Billie (Roger) Gobler of Jacksonville, and Patricia (Chuck) Beyer of Stillwater.
