Margaret Morse

October 31, 1932 — June 19, 2023

Margaret E. "Marge" Morse (née Novotny), Marge was born in Bay View, WI and baptized at the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Thus started her life long love of God and the Church. The family's first home once sat at what is now Pius XI High School. They lived a short time in a flat on Vliet near her first job at the Times Theater, where she worked with her sisters. Next home was her little yellow house across from the west entrance to the Novotny family Church-St Sebastian's. St Seb's construction was financed by son Will's old firm, BC Ziegler & Co. Marge went to both Church & grade school there. Having met the love of her life, Jerry, at Pius XI High School, they were married at St Seb's. Each Mass found them walking by the bust of Milwaukee Bishop Messmer. They sent their daughter, Kathleen, to Messmer High School. Kate & her husband Steve were married at St Seb's. Marge Novotny's final, and still in the Novotny family, home was on 58th & Lloyd. After high school graduation Marge enjoyed a series of jobs including at Ma Bell and Miller Brewery. Jerry used to tell the kids that Marge was the model for Miller's girl in the moon. Once married, they moved to San Antonio, TX where Jerry taught medics in the army at Fort Sam Houston. Their two eldest sons, Patrick & Michael were born on base. Having completed their service, they found their way to Dundee, IL where daughters Kathleen and Susan & their son William were born. When Jerry's job gave them the chance to move home, they bought their Morse family home on 85th & Hadley and joined Christ King Parish. They sent their children to school there. Marge volunteered to work in the school library and cleaned the alter linens. She found her passion in The Legion of Mary where she spent countless hours bringing companionship to home bound Parish members. In spite of being very shy, Marge was usually the first to welcome new neighbors with a smile and plate of cookies. She did her best in word & by example to instill in her children to be the hands & feet of Christ in service to others. Marge's final home was under the expert care of the folks at St Camillus. She was visited by so many people that the photos filled her closet doors and she kept three books of visitor notes. The entire family is deeply grateful for all who came to see her and the entire amazing staff of St Cam's. They are beyond loving and kind. Born to Eternal Life June 19, 2023 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of 69 years of Jerome H Morse (born to Eternal Life 7/12/16). Loving mother of Patrick, Michael (Beth Foy), Kathleen (Steven) Hall and Will (Chris) Morse. Proud grandmother of Andrew, Tim, Mark, Maggie and Natalie. Further survived by her brother Tom (Julie) Novotny, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her daughter Susan Mary and her parents Joseph and Rose Novotny and sisters: Joan (Dan) Verfurth, Nan (Carroll) Romens, and Rose (Bob) Voelz.
