Marie Retzer

Marie Retzer On May 30th in Heaven, Marie and Ken celebrated their wedding anniversary together. Died May 27th surrounded by the love of her family. Loving wife and best friend to the late Ken Retzer for 63 years, and wonderful mother to Greg (Amy), Annmarie, and Marilu. Marie was a very proud grandmother to Anna, Jack, and Janie. She was also aunt to several nieces and nephews. Born in January 1935 to Jack and Mary Brophy, Marie was preceded in death by her parents, oldest sister Eileen (the late Leonard) Loftus and survived by her older sister Luanne (the late Jerry) Schipper and Fr. John Brophy. Marie attended St. Thomas Aquinas grade school, Pius High School, and UW Whitewater. Marie met Ken on a blind date and married Ken during his senior year at Marquette University. The growing family settled in Wauwatosa and joined St. Agnes Parish in 1963, educating their three children, practicing their faith and making many great friends. Upon retirement Ken and Marie enjoyed spending winters in Arizona and traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, Italy, and Ireland. Sundays during the summer were spent in East Troy at Army Lake. Special thank you to Dickson Hollow and Brighton Hospice for the safety and gentle care during Marie's last years. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 3rd from 9:30-10:30 AM at St. Agnes Catholic Church (12801 W Fairmount Ave, Butler). Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 AM. The family encourages memorials in Marie's honor to St. Agnes Day School Endowment Fund or Lewy Body Dementia Organization (LBDA.org) in Marie's memory.
