Mary Thompson "Schauer" was joyfully reunited with her beloved husband Frederick on August 26, 2024. Also preceding her in death are her parents James and Mary, sister Jeannette (Adam), brothers Rudy, James (Lillian) and Jerome (Carol). Those that remain to keep her memory alive include her children Linda (Don), Laurie, Alan, and Michael (Cindy), God-daughter Cathy, grandchildren Nick (Julia), Leah, Therese, Quinn and Tess. Further survived by her brother John (Kathy), nephews, nieces and other family and friends.
Mary was born in Bay View on June 2, 1931 to James and Mary Schauer, she graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1949. In 1950 while enjoying a night out with friends Mary met a "Chicago" boy named Frederick at the Eagle's Ballroom. They never exchanged numbers. After weeks of asking friends about Mary, he reconnected with her and admitted he was not from Chicago. Two years later, they were married. They began and raised a family in the Greenfield area.
Shortly after Michael was born Mary began working as an admitting clerk at West Allis Memorial Hospital. Over the years she developed many close bonds with ladies in her department and became known as "The Party Planner". Her social group became particularly important to her after Frederick passed.
Mary loved to spend time with her family, be it planning vactions to Sanibel Island or Door County, dinners with friends and family board games and "Sanibel Dice". An adoring grandmother, Mary never missed an event that her grandchildren were involved in. She was a sport enthusiast and loved her MLB and NFL.
A very heartfelt thank you to Alan, from his brother and sisters, for the loving care and devotion that he exhibited, especially in Mary's final years.
As per Mary's wishes, no funeral services will be held.
