Mildred Buchel

July 23, 1915 — March 29, 2015

Buchel, Mildred "Milly" (nee Loehlein) – Died peacefully on March 29, 2015. Born July 23, 1915 in St. Anthony, Minnesota to Mary Knops and Adam Loehlein. Preceded in death by her loving husband Eugene "Gene", her parents, five sisters and four brothers. Survived by her children: Mary Buchel (Larry Salsbury), Barbara (Jim) Haebig, David Buchel, Carol (Tom) Brendemuehl; her grandchildren: Rebecca Cors (Gerhard Amann), Dylan Cors (Sarah Dunham), Jeff (Amy) Gauger, Julie (Kelly) Brosig, Jamie (Nelcy) Gauger, Alison Buchel, Margaret (Brad) Hibray, Chris Brendemuehl and Jeni Brendemuehl; her great-grandchildren: Aurelia, Anton, Katelyn, Emily, Madison, Brooke and Jordan. Also survived by two sisters-in-law: Irmgard Buchel and Hildegard Buchel; former daughter-in-law Ann Buchel; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Milly was the youngest of 10 children. Her childhood was spent on a farm in a German-speaking community near St. Cloud, MN. She moved to Milwaukee in the 1930's, where she met and married Eugene "Gene" Buchel in 1942. Gene served in the US Army in Europe during World War II while Milly lived in Milwaukee. They moved to the Thiensville-Mequon area in 1950, where they owned and operated a series of restaurants that provided customers with fine dining experiences: The Alpine Village and The Club Riversite in Thiensville, and The Ulao Inn in Grafton. Milly served as hostess, waitress, and baker at these establishments. Her specialties were cheese torte and pecan pie. She was a member of Lumen Christi Church in Mequon for over 60 years, and more recently belonged to St. Joseph Church in Grafton. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a beautiful smile. Her deep faith and trust in the Lord aided her all her days. She was always ready for a family get-together or a road trip. She excelled as a homemaker and cook. We will deeply miss her – she was a loving and wise mother, grandmother, relative and friend to many all over the world including Minnesota and Liechtenstein, the birthplace of her husband. Her family's wish for her: Go to heaven where the angels and saints will greet you – where Dad will welcome you with open arms – where we will, one day, be with you again. A very special "thank you" to the staff at River Oaks, Mequon and Luther Manor Hospice for their gentle and loving care. Visitation Wednesday April 8, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1619 Washington Street (Hwy 60), Grafton, WI, from 4:00-6:00 PM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 6:00 PM. Hospitality to follow. Private entombment at Resurrection Cemetery, Mequon. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Milly's name to American Cancer Society http://www.cancer.org/ or Multiple Sclerosis http://www.nationalmssociety.org/donate are suggested.
