Myra Shields

Myra continued her journey to a new dimensional universe of the Heavens on January 30th, 2020. She was born on October 21, 1927. She will be interred at Union Grove Veterans Cemetery with her husband James Shields. Predeceased by her parents Vincent and Elizabeth Feustel, husband James Shields, children James Randall Shields and Judith Pagenkopf, and siblings, Ellen, Ralph, Boris, Vince Jr., and Kenneth. Grandmother of Jennifer (Patrick) McGraw, Nicholas (Emily) Pagenkopf, Elizabeth Pagenkopf, and Jessica Shields. Great-grandmother of James Shields, Lucas Shields, Hawkley Shields, and George Tanski. Dear aunt of Sharon Henk, Barbara Feustel, Shiela Lehrke and Philip Nick, and great-aunt of Kenneth Henk, Heather Lehrke, and Katherine Jarolimek. Further survived by many other relatives and friends. Myra was born and raised in West Allis where she lived most of her life. She was very active as a volunteer in many organizations in West Allis. Activities including Volunteer at First Lutheran Church West Allis where she and James were married, Board Member and Volunteer for West Allis Commission on Aging, West Central Interfaith Volunteer, Member of American Legion Auxiliary #120, Member of Luther Manor Auxiliary, Volunteer at State Fair, and Volunteer of West Allis - West Milwaukee Alumni Committee. Her involvement in the community was so strong that she received awards and recognition from the Mayor of West Allis. Myra held a variety of positions that helped her grow into a District Manager for AAA when she retired in 1984. Myra started off as a Soda Jerk at Harry's Pharmacy while in High School. Then worked at Milwaukee Road as a Mail Clerk, where she met her husband James. Moved on to Deaconess Hospital as an Admitting Clerk where she worked third shift for 17 years. Myra held a variety of positions at AAA being promoted many times in her 14 year career. Most of all, Myra enjoyed and cared for her family. She was continuously sending notes and buying cards and little gifts to let you know she was thinking of you. She was also the keeper of the family tree with pictures and interesting stories of the family history. She loved antiques, as well as collecting spoons and Hummel's. Myra grew up in the depression era so this made her strong, determined, with a lot of common sense communication, being fair and thoughtful. She was also a kind softie as the "Hallmark" Channel was her favorite. All of this would help her with her career and her impact on the community by giving back and supporting public initiatives and programs. Most of all she will be loved, inspired, and missed by many.
