Nadine Golliher, age 93, of Milwaukee, WI, passed away on July 2nd, 2023.
"Runaround Sue" Golliher was born Nadeen Eleen Dibble on May 13th, 1930 in Baraboo, Wisconsin. She grew up there and graduated from BHS in 1948. She was active in her home church while growing up. She went to Janesville and became a switchboard operator for six months. She left there and went on to Northwestern College of Liberal Arts in Minneapolis, MN. Sue was always active in journalism, music and missionary work while attending Northwestern when the love of her life from high school joined the navy. After boot camp they were engaged and married in Baraboo in 1951. They traveled to different naval bases and eventually settled in Norfolk, VA for two years. Sue was very active in the Navy Auxiliary and served on the board of directors for six years. When Ken was discharged, they moved to Portage, WI and became members of the First Methodist Church. Sue was always in the choir, taught Sunday School and was president of the PTA while her children went to school. Ken accepted a job with Allstate in 1964 and the family sold their home and moved to Milwaukee. They joined Lincoln Park Lutheran Church and Sue taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a Shepherd.
She belonged to the Elks Lodge 46, where she was an Aquabelle and wrote articles for the Elks 46'er. She belonged to the Allstate Lunch Bunch and worked the lunch program at the Senior Dining program, where she made the seniors feel welcome. She also belonged to the Joy Singers of Whitefish Bay. Sue had always been a Girl Scout leader and taught her family to be involved as well. In 2011, Sue was inducted into the Milwaukee County Hall of Fame and in 2016 was awarded the Good Neighbor award from Havenwoods.
Sue is survived by two children: Connie Pemrich (Gene) and Kevin Golliher; six grandchildren: Jessica Namaste, Jamie Lacy, Nick Jacob (Gaby), Kenneth Golliher IV, Sadie Golliher and Luke Golliher; and four great-grandchildren: Alicia Antonia Delores Luna, Miles Namaste, Landen Golliher and Dante Jabari Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and best friend Ken on March 18th, 2015, her son Kenneth III (Jamie Tillotson) on July 2nd, 2007, and her daughter Cindy Lacy on December 27, 2022.
A memorial service will be held for Sue at the Milwaukee Elks Lodge (5555 W Good Hope Road) on Thursday, August 3rd. Visitation will be from 1:30pm - 3:30pm followed by a service at 3:30pm
