Oralee L. Krahn passed away peacefully in Hubertus, WI surrounded by her loving family on June 13, 2015 at the age of 86 years.
Oralee was born April 24, 1929 in Gilson, Illinois, she was the daughter of Charles Isaac and Louise (Woolsey) Harbison. She was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Galesburg, IL. She was united in marriage to Earl G. Krahn on July 2, 1949 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois and received the sacraments of the Catholic Church at this time.
Oralee attended Mount Vernon Elementary School in Chicago, IL and graduated from Christian Fenger High School in Chicago, IL in 1947. Oralee was employed by Chicago Bridge and Iron Company, Southern Pacific Railroad, and Arco Auto Carriers, all located Chicago, IL and was later employed by WH Brady Company of Glendale, WI. Oralee enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, bowling and family reunions. She deeply loved her family, was proud of her eight children and delighted in her grandchildren. Oralee was empathic and compassionate and was gifted with warm hearted goodness. An extraordinary sense of optimism accompanied her faith in God that complemented every part of her life.
Oralee was a member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Parish since 1967 and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 2009. She enjoyed researching family genealogy and loved to tell stories about her life growing up in Illinois. She assembled numerous books to honor her families' historical roots. Oralee was especially happy when her grandchildren and great grandchildren came to visit. She took pride in keeping the cookie jar full.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Brian Joseph Krahn and Robert Earl Krahn, two grandchildren Turner Krahn and Kyle Turner, and two sons-in-law, Gordon Conant and Bruce Gengler.
She is survived by her husband, seven children; Cindy Gengler, Donna Conant, Gary Krahn, Gayle Krahn, Jenean (Darrell) Hamilton, Warren (Kay) Krahn and Lorraine (Robert) Riedl and daughter-in-law, Sandy Krahn. She is further survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 17, 12 noon at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 1200 St. Gabriel Way, Hubertus, WI, with Rev. Timothy Bickel and Deacon Robert Riedl officiating. Interment will follow at St. Hubert Cemetery, Hubertus, WI. Visitation Wednesday at the Church from 10 am until time of Mass.
