Philip Giuffre

October 31, 1932 — December 8, 2020

Philip Anthony Giuffre, Sr. passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2020, due to heart failure at the age of 88. Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne; his children: Lori Silverman, Jon Giuffre, Phil (Ann) Giuffre, and Kara (Mike) Grennier; and his grandchildren: Tyler Buth, Joseph Giuffre, Brian Giuffre, Julia Giuffre and Justin Grennier. Phil was born in Milwaukee and attended Lincoln High School. He lived most of his life in Menomonee Falls where he raised his family. A brick layer by trade, Phil became a builder and general contractor of residential, municipal and commercial properties. He ventured into numerous other businesses, including owning and operating a successful racquetball club, as well as a wine and cheese store. Among his greatest personal achievements was relocating a three-story, 30-family apartment building on Milwaukee's East Side in 1971. A local and nightly news event that was to last days took a month as it traveled from Astor Street, down busy Brady Street, to its final resting spot at 1767 N. Arlington Place. A 10-man crew managed to move the building, on steel dollies and 176 rubber wheels, at speeds up to 40 feet per hour. Navigating some of the corners and removal of power lines consumed full days at time. Onlookers sat in lawn chairs and ate lunch, giving them entertainment as the building inched its way to the new location. The annual spring ski trips with him to Snowmass Village, Colorado, and his love of the mountains are memories we will treasure forever. He instilled a hard work ethic in his children and he was proud of their personal and professional successes. A beloved husband, father and grandfather, and adored by his family, Phil will be missed beyond measure. Due to COVID, a memorial will be held at a later date.
