Nicolai, Phyllis E. (nee Liebner), age 100, was born on May 1, 1918 and passed away on August 20, 2018. The former Thiensville resident was the loving mother of Roberta (Lawrence) Kahn, Susan (George) Roemer, and Virginia (Tom) Garske; grandmother to Stefanie Garske, Randy (Callie) Kahn, Jamie Kahn, Andy (Vanessa) Kahn, Paul Roemer, Jacintha Roemer, and Malaika Roemer; and great grandmother of 5 great grandchildren. She also is survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The tireless volunteer and family matriarch, who also served in the WAC during WWII, was preceded in death by her beloved husband and enthusiastic travel buddy of 33 years, Robert Frank Nicolai, her parents Bruno and Martha (and step mothers Anna and Anita) Liebner, and brother Byron Liebner.
Visitation is planned for Friday, August 24, 2018 at Schramka-Densow Funeral Home, 423 N. Main St., Thiensville, from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m., memorial service at 11 a.m., followed by internment at Graceland Cemetery, 6401 N. 43rd St.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Phyllis' memory to the University of Wisconsin Foundation, American Heart Association, or the charity of your choice will be appreciated.
