Richard Bennett

Richard was born to eternal life September 11, 2021, at the age of 74 years. He was born on January 18, 1947, in Antigo, WI to the late Garnet and Doris (nee Schwingle) Bennett. On October 31, 1970, he married the love of his life, Sharon (nee Bares) at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cudahy, WI. A member of Cudahy High School Class of 1965, Richard entered the Vietnam War in the late 1960's. Upon returning, he worked as a heavy equipment operator at Harnischfeger Corporation in Cudahy until 1981. Later he worked at the Milwaukee County Transit System for 27 years until retirement in 2010. Richard had a strong work ethic throughout his life and would always help others with anything they needed. His hobbies included working on and tinkering with cars, various home remodeling projects and just about anything to stay busy. Richard was very proud of his son Brian's family and would always want to know about their individual work careers and his grandchildren's academic and athletic accomplishments. He also enjoyed getting together with friends, family, and neighbors and of course his old work buddies for breakfast or lunch. Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon, his son Brian (Tanya) of Waite Park, MN and grandchildren Sarah and Tyler. He is further survived by his sister Lynn (Greg) Lanier of Georgia, brothers-in-law David (Debi) Bares and Don Hansen of Wisconsin. In addition, "Uncle Dick" is survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was proceeded in death by both of his parents, siblings Sandra Bogaczyk and Carol Wieczorek, brother-in-law Pete Wieczorek, sister-in-law Sheila Hansen and many uncles, aunts, relatives, and close friends. Family and friends will gather for a celebration of life on Saturday July 9th at Schramka Borgwardt Funeral Home (11030 W. Forest Home Avenue, Hales Corners, WI). Visitation will be from 10am-12pm with a memorial service and Military Honors to follow. Interment will be at a later date.
