Rita Riedl

December 9, 1931 — December 27, 2023

(nee Derse) Age 92, of Menomonee Falls, WI, passed away, Wednesday, December 27, 2023. She was born December 9, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Arthur and Bertha (nee Saniter) Derse. Rita was a proud graduate of Milwaukee Washington High School. She married Robert Riedl on June 6, 1953, who preceded her in death in 2017. Rita and Bob loved their cottage on Riley's Point in Door County. They also enjoyed international travel, visiting many foreign countries. Religion played an important role in Rita's life. She taught CCD for years before beginning her career and was an active member in LARCUM, a multi-denominational faith organization, and a past officer of St. Anthony Christian Mothers. After raising five children, Rita began a career of service to the Catholic Church acting as director of religious education at St. Anthony Church in Menomonee Falls and St. Matthias Church in Milwaukee. Rita is survived by her five children, Robert J. (Joyce) Riedl, Daniel (Rick Stabler) Riedl, Ruthann (Shane) Driscoll, Patricia (Daniel) Reinke, and John (Cornelia) Riedl; six grandchildren, Renee (Ryan) Wojtkiewicz, Kimberly (Craig) Wesley, Ellen (Matt) Mueller, Margaret (Anthony) Bertolini, Laura Reinke and Elizabeth Davis; also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Lucas, Nora and Jax Wojtkiewicz, Grant and Grace Wesley, and Elena and Enzo Bertolini. A Celebration of Rita's life will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church, N74 W13604 Appleton Ave., Menomonee Falls. A visitation will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Memorials in Rita's name to St. Anthony or Capuchin Community Services would be appreciated.
