Rita Leona Schulteis (nee Zingsheim) age 95 years, of Germantown, WI, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Friday, February 21. 2025, at the Gables of Germantown in Germantown, WI. Rita was born on March 18, 1929, to Paul and Catherine (nee Lischka) Zingsheim of Theresa, WI. She was united in marriage to Herm C. Schulteis on October 30th, 1954, at St. Kilian Catholic Church. The newlyweds were proud to provide their guests breakfast, lunch, dinner, and a dance at the event.
Rita dedicated her life to raising her three children Paul (Sharon) Schulteis of Jackson, Margene Schulteis of Milwaukee, and Philip Schulteis of Germantown on their seven-acre hobby farm. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, fishing, playing cards, and making her own soaps. Once her children were grown, Rita worked as a spice mixer at Wisconsin Wilderness, volunteered as a voting poll worker, and joined a bowling league. Rita was proud to achieve a bowling average of 162. As a devout Catholic, Rita prayed the Rosary daily, sang in the choir during Mass, and learned to play hymns on the organ.
Rita is survived by her children, granddaughter Jane (Cody) Hill of Slinger, great-grandsons Colton and Jordan Hill of Slinger, and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents Paul and Catherine, her beloved husband Herm; two infant brothers, Harvey and Harvey; four brothers, Daniel, Eugene, Philip, and Frederick; and three sisters, Genevive, Pauline, and Veronica.
A visitation will be held Saturday, March 1, at St. Mary Catholic Church, N89 W16297 Cleveland Ave. Menomonee Falls, WI, from 10:00 am to 11:45 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. After Mass a luncheon will be held at The Hot House Tavern, N88 W16631 Appleton Ave., Menomonee Falls. Private burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Richfield, WI.
