Born on August 15, 1939, in Cabanatuan City, Philippines. He lived a life dedicated to the care of others, both as a beloved physician and as a devoted family man.
At the behest of his father to immerse himself in Chinese culture, Romy attended the Cabanatuan Chinese Elementary school. Romy then moved to Manila to attend Chiang Kai Shek High School in the mornings and University of Santo Tomas High School in the afternoons. Pursuing his dream, Romy earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines in 1963. Romy emigrated to the United States in 1967 and completed Internal Medicine residencies at Harrison S. Martland Hospital in Newark, New Jersey and at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Milwaukee. Romy went on to practice medicine for over 43 years in the Milwaukee area, specializing in Internal Medicine and was on staff at St. Anthony, St. Francis, and St. Luke's Hospitals. Romy also participated in multiple medical missions to the Philippines. As an internist, he was a regular volunteer physician at the Philippine Cultural Center Free Medical Clinic. He served many patients in the Milwaukee area, and they were all saddened when he retired in 2010.
In his spare time, Romy loved to shop, sing, enjoy good food, and travel. He was often competing with his colleagues and sons in tennis at the Brook Club and Highlander Raquet Club and in golf at Wanaki and Naga-Waukee Golf Courses.
Romy was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Engracia, sisters Carmencita and Teresita, brother Danilo and infant son, Anthony Rainier.
