A Life Well Lived
Ronald A. "Skip" Hansen, age 84, of Grafton, WI, passed away at home on Tuesday, October 18th, 2022, with his wife by his side. Ron was born to Allan and Vivian Hansen on the south side of Chicago in February 1938, the youngest of three children. Ron married Jean Kimble in May 1956. Together they had 3 children, Sharon, Ronald and Robert. Ron would always refer to her as "my Jeanie", and often told the story of their courtship.
Ron was employed by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in the Proviso facility, which later was acquired by Union Pacific Railroad. He held various operational roles. The time he spent working on the railroad would make for great stories later in life. Ron also discovered an interest in owls in those years as he had come across them often on the railroad, and he and Jeanie would laugh that he was the "owl whisperer".
Ron retired from the railroad in 2000, at the age of 62. He and Jeanie would spend the next 15 years living in Mesa, Arizona, "doing everything there was to do" he would say. Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and model trains. He and Jeanie travelled by bus, train, airplane, boat, car, and dune buggy, seeing sights, going to casinos and enjoying life. In 2015, Ron and Jeanie moved north, to Wisconsin, to be closer to family, deciding they had done everything there was to do around Arizona.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Jean; three children: Sharon (John) Hergenroether, Ronald Hansen, and Robert (Kimberly) Hansen. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tamie Hansen, Tanya Hansen, Peter (Delanie Ann) Hergenroether, Ben (Hannah) Hergenroether, Steven (Molly) Hansen, and Patrick (Steph) Hansen, and his great grandchildren: Jenifer, Nicole, Jeremy, Kaylie, Kinzlee, and Cecelia. Ron is also survived by several cousins.
Ron's family would like to thank the staff at Village Pointe Commons for the care they gave Ron.
There will be no services at Ron's request. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Arizona.
