Russell Straub

December 18, 1924 — January 13, 2021

Born to Eternal Life on Wed., Jan. 13, 2021, at the age of 96. Loving husband of the late Ann Straub. Beloved father of Barbara Jean Petersen, Michael John Straub, John Gregory Straub, Jo Ann Marie Hyde and Susan Mary Maliszko. Proud grandpa of Amanda Ayala, Tracy Lutkus, Erik Jensen, Dane Jensen, Kimberly Straub, Cole Tyler Hyde, David Jorden Hyde, Jack Maliszko, Andrew Maliszko, Logan Maliszko, Brady Maliszko, Mia Maliszko and Trevor Maliszko. Russell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Ann; brothers James Straub and Myron Staub. Russell was a Proud United States Navy Veteran. He was instrumental in the capture of the U505 German submarine during WWII. He served on the USS Guadalcanal. He served his community, starting the VFW Post of Germantown, WI; he became a commander and Chief and was a member of the American Legion. Russell was also a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Menomonee Falls. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, January 22 at 1:00 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Church, N74 W13604 Appleton Ave. Menomonee Falls, WI. Burial will immediately follow at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield; with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for a donation to the museum of science and industry U-505 exhibit. would be appreciated. https://www.msichicago.org/donate-now.
