Ruth Laughlin (née Dybul)
May 11, 1937 – January 2, 2026
Ruth Laughlin, loving mother, grandmother, and devoted homemaker, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on May 11, 1937, Ruth lived a life centered on her family and home. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard “Dick” Laughlin, who passed away on July 9, 2020, at the age of 85, and her cherished daughter, Donna Laughlin, who passed away on June 12, 2021, at the age of 56.
Ruth is survived by her sons Steve Laughlin, Mike Laughlin (Lisa), Dan Laughlin (Donna), and Joe Laughlin (Becky). She was a proud and loving grandmother to AJ, Michelle, and Robert. She is also survived by her sister, Joan Nowacki, and her brother, Richard Dybul.
Ruth dedicated her life to caring for her family, creating a warm and welcoming home filled with love, devotion, and quiet strength. Her legacy lives on through the family she nurtured and the countless ways she supported those she loved.
Visitation will be held at St. Robert Church, 2224 E. Capitol Drive, Shorewood, Saturday, January 17th from 10- 11 AM. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family is deeply grateful to the compassionate caregivers at Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee for the exceptional care and kindness they provided to Ruth and to all of us during her time there. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to Horizon Hospice for their compassionate care and support. The family would also like to thank Ruth’s many friends for their love, companionship, and support over the years, with special appreciation to her dear friend Rozanne Schmidtlein.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Father Hank’s Fund at St. Robert’s Church would be appreciated.
May she rest in the peace of Christ and be welcomed into God’s eternal embrace.
