Salvatore "Sam" was born on September 10, 1924, to Carmelo and Maria Caputa. He passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 4, 2023, at the age of 98.
Among those waiting for Sam are his beloved wife of 57 years Ingeborg "Sue", son Carmello "Carmen", parents and many brothers and sisters. He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Marie (Bob) and grandchildren Michelle, Brian, Salvatore and Isabella; great grand children Kara, Joseph, Luke, Johnathan and Emily and great great granddaughter Kiara.
After graduating from Lincoln High School Sam started to work for Pabst Brewing company, however that was interrupted when he answered the call of his country to serve in World War II. When his duty to his country was complete, he returned to Wisconsin and resumed his work with Pabst.
In 1948 he met Ingeborg and the married in January of 1950 and began their family. Aside from his family Sam was an active member of St. Cecilia's Church; choir and Holy name Society and helping start "St. Paquale's Day" (the spaghetti dinner), to name a few of his projects. His service to St. Cecilia's continued with helping to build the school. Furthering his love of the Church he joined the Knights of Columbus and rose to the rank of Grand Knight with the Pope John XXIII Council #5438.
He was also a member of American Legion Peter Wollner Post #288 in Cedarburg, Kettle Moraine District Commissioner of the Eagle Scouts. After a 40-year career with Pabst, Sam retired. Unwilling to become inactive he joined a Slow Pitch Senior Soft Ball League and became a pitcher. In 2004 the work bug bit he and he stared working for Stein's Gardens and Gifts in West Bend until retiring again in 2012.
A life well lived in service to others is not always easy. Sadly, Sam had to say goodbye to his adored wife Sue and his son Carmen and after a long struggle with Dementia, God reached out His Hand and called Sam Home for a joyous reunion.
Memorials may be made in Sam's name to the charity of your choice.
