Sharon Miller, lovingly known as Shannon, passed away on December 17, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on September 25, 1951, in New York City, she was raised in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Shannon moved to San Francisco in the 1980s, where she built a community of loving friends from around the world and created a new home. She had a fulfilling career as a gardener for San Francisco's Department of Recreation and Parks, leaving her legacy in the city's beautiful parks before retiring about ten years ago.
Following her retirement, Shannon relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, to be closer to family. While visiting Milwaukee, Wisconsin, her health began to decline, but she faced her challenges with grace and resilience. Her final days were spent in hospice care, where she chose peace and rest after a courageous battle with her health.
Throughout her life, Shannon exemplified strength, independence, and a love of nature. She found joy in gardening and the simple pleasures of life, and her vibrant presence will be deeply missed.
Shannon leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Margo Robinson and Herbertia "Tia" Drumgold Densen (and her husband Moses Densen); her aunt, Annette Sampson, the matriarch of the family; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. She is also remembered with love by her devoted close friend, Judith McRae, and her beloved godsons, Zach and Jake McRae, along with many other cherished friends.
To honor Shannon's love for gardening, her loved ones invite you to plant a tree or flowers in her memory, ensuring her legacy lives on in the beauty of nature she so deeply cherished.
