Shelley D. Burns, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away on July 18, 2025, at the age of 64. Born September 24, 1960, in Lake County, Ohio, Shelley led a compassionate, caring and community focused life. Shelley is survived by her devoted husband, Douglas Burns; her cherished daughters, Jenna and Alexandra; her caring brother, Brad Dibble (Barbara) of Risingsun, Ohio; and her beloved parents, Roderick and Barbara Dibble of Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Shelley's journey began in Ohio. Growing up in Mentor. Her academic pursuits were as impressive as her character, having graduated from Heidelberg University in Ohio, she furthered her education at Case Western Reserve University and the University of New Hampshire. Each degree adding to her education pedigree and thirst for knowledge. Her professional life was marked by a deep commitment to her community, exemplified by her seven year tenure on the Mequon Thiensville School Board. Shelley's passion for improving the lives of others also led her to a fulfilling career in healthcare consulting with iVantage / HMC, where her insights and dedication contributed to the well-being of countless individuals. She spent her "free time" serving Mequon United Methodist Church, where she wrote the newsletter and managed/organized the kitchen. Shelley was an avid cook. She found joy in the act of preparing a meal for family and friends, infusing each dish with love and care. Traveling was another of Shelley's delights, exploring new places and cultures, which broadened her horizons and deepened her appreciation for the world's beauty. More recently, she became a massive Milwaukee Bucks fan, enjoying attending games with her family. Above all, Shelley's role as a mother and wife stood paramount. Her daughters, Jenna and Alexandra, were the light of her life, and she poured her heart into nurturing and guiding them. Shelley and Doug celebrated their 40 th anniversary last year. A testament to the love and devotion they had for each other. A memorial service will be held on August 16 at Mequon United Methodist Church in Mequon, with visitation from 9:00am to noon and the service following at 12:30. A celebration of life will follow.
