Steven Driesen

December 24, 1959 — November 2, 2024

Born December 24, 1959 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Steven entered into the arms of our loving Lord on November 2, 2024. Beloved son of Frederick E. Driesen and Virginia A. Driesen, Steve was the brother of Gary (Marilyn) Driesen of Martinez, GA; Kay (Charles) Petrie of Hendersonville, TN; Neil (Laurie) Driesen of Wauwatosa, WI; and Kevin Driesen of Tucson, AZ. He is survived by nine nieces and nephews (Jennifer, James & Jeff); (Kimberly & Keri); (Daniel); and (Frederick, Ramon & Anna Maria). Steve also had numerous cousins from the Schindhelm, Gordee, Staehle, Kroell, Vance, Malsack, and Kibbe families. As a youth, Steve greatly enjoyed playing drums with musically inclined friends including Robert, Brian, Stevie, et al. Early on, they performed in bands called "Fusion" and "Quest" at local Milwaukee venues. Steve's love of playing drums in the band stayed with him for the rest of his entire life. He would reconnect with his musician friends during annual jam sessions. After graduating from school, Steve found his calling in the airline industry. He began with Northwest Airlines at Mitchell Field in Milwaukee and then transferred to San Francisco where he worked for many years. He enjoyed the challenges of guiding planes at the terminal gates and processing cargo. He also liked to share stories about the many people he met at the airports and the travel benefits of being an airline employee. Steve retired from Delta Airlines in 2019 having developed long-lasting friendships with his co-workers. Steve loved to travel and share adventures with family members and friends such as Patty and Robert. He enjoyed snow ski trips to Lake Tahoe and basking on the beaches of California, Florida, the Caribbean, and Maui. Though Steve's travels took him many diverse places, he always looked forward to the brotherly love, laughter, and playful banter present at family gatherings and summer reunions. Steve's disposition for physical work combined with an entrepreneurial spirit motivated him to start a home-based business, "Mainline Painting and Handyman." He had an interest in real estate and constantly worked on his own house as well as helping others with renovation. Combined with his full-time airline work, Steve was often quite busy. When Steve wasn't working, he enjoyed tennis, attending music concerts, and playing pool. He shared his affinity for pool with his neighbor Roy on a regular basis and with his brothers and nephews during family visits. Steve was a loving son, a great brother, and a loyal friend. We all miss his humor and generous spirit. He is "Gone too soon." Following a private funeral, interment will be with his predeceased parents at Graceland Memorial Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
