Virginia "Gin" Maitz (nee Pilarski) entered heaven peacefully on December 7, 2022. She was born the eldest of five siblings to Michael & Anna Pilarski on February 3, 1928. Gin married her high school sweetheart Frank G. Maitz in 1950. The two were able to retire to Seneca, South Carolina where they bought a quaint, but perfect, little white house on Lake Keowee. Gin is proceeded in death by her parents, sisters Phyllis Klaus and Dorothy Millard, and her beloved husband Frank.
For the last 18 years, Gin lived at the Regency Independent Living in New Berlin, where she watched over and cared for the residents there. She was an avid card player and would often win at Sheepshead, Rummy, and Skippo. Gin loved butterflies, fresh flowers, and driving through the park. She is survived by her best friend and brother, Eugene Pilarski (Linda), sister Patricia Benzel, numerous nieces and nephews, including those who cared for her, Gary, Craig and Nora, Sharyel and Mike, Holly and Jason, and wonderful caretakers: Joy, Patty, Sue, Alyssa, McKenzie, Joanie, Bekah, Barbara and Leila.
Gin was a strong and independent women who will be greatly missed. She had a good sense of humor and never stopped moving. Watch over us Gin, and we will meet again someday.
