Walter proudly served in The United States Coast Guard in WWII. After the War he attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. Walter was then employed by the McGraw-Edison Company where he earned his Professional Engineer degree and became a Chief Engineer. During this time he was granted multiple patents and the Thomas Edison Award. Not one to sit at his desk, he was often found working in the labs and machining areas, asking for other opinions.
Walter was an active member of St. Matthew's Church in Oak Creek, working at the fish fries, bingo and parish council. His hobbies were widespread, everything from building a house to growing roses. He enjoyed the Milwaukee Braves and the Green Bay Packers as much as his alma mater team, the Wisconsin Badgers. He loved to play sheepshead and cribbage. He served as President of Kyle-Central Credit Union for many years and encouraged others to use Credit Unions, long before they were well known.
Wally, as he was known, loved nothing better than to see his family together enjoying themselves. This extended to all the friendships he made over the years.
Dad and Mom, we know you enjoyed your wedding anniversary together!
And Wally, do they greet you with "a shot and a beer"?
