Wayne grew up in Cudahy and graduated from Cudahy High School. Following graduation, he was drafted into the Army, where he proudly served during the Korean Conflict.
After returning home, Wayne began a 40 year career at the Milwaukee Journal, working his way up to become a Journeyman Pressman. During his years at the Journal, he served as Union President, tirelessly advocating for improved working conditions, including hearing protection for workers. He was also active in several United Way campaigns. Beyond helping to print the newspaper each day, Wayne remained a faithful reader of the paper throughout his life to the end.
In 1961, Wayne married the love his life, Lucy, and together raised four children.
Wayne loved all sports, especially high school basketball. For many years after his children graduated, he could still be found in “his spot” in the bleachers cheering on the local teams.
After retirement, Wayne and Lucy enjoyed traveling together. Their adventures included Hawaii, two trips to Alaska, and several memorable trips throughout Europe.
Wayne was a man of deep faith and for nearly 60 years was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church.
Having lost his parents at a young age, Wayne was always amazed and grateful that he was blessed with such a long and full life.
