61 years ago the world welcomed William (Bill) Arthur Zimmer. He was the 6th edition to the growing Zimmer brand started by Paul and Catherine in Milwaukee, WI several years earlier. His birth marked the end of an impressive streak in which 4 baby Zimmer's were produced in 5 years. Bill was called home on April 26, 2022.
A grave stone provides the general information of the person's name, their date of birth followed by their date of death. This information is separated by a single dash: It is this decisive punctuation mark that infers the content of one's life; each dash being as unique as the individual it identifies. Bill's "dash" represents a distinct yet relatable life.
Bill was a determined, loyal, reliable, honest, compassionate, and hard working man whose work ethic was a thing of folklore. Throughout his professional career, whether it was an IT professional at TankStar, as a owner and operator of a tavern in Bay View on through tenure as General Manager at V Marchese Produce, Bill's quality of work along with the consistency and dependability he brought is uncommon in today's work force and his absence will undoubtedly leave a void.
While his occupations were an enormous part of his life Bill's absolute passion was family. Bill's house was the annual landing spot for family Christmas gatherings, it would be the destination for out-of-towners to take refuge, the party spot for summer fun, the go-to haven for late night shenanigans or just a place to seek advise or guidance from a guy who had the innate ability to dispense hard truths while never letting you forget you had his total and unflappable love and support. Regarding his immediate family, Bill and Tammy were blessed with two daughters; Dena (fiancé John) and Monique (boy-toy Cody). His devotion to his girls would only be challenged by his unconditional passion and fervor for his grand babies; Deklan (2 years old) and Parker (10 months old).
Bill is preceded in death by his father Paul, dear sister Susan, and niece Amy. He is survived by his mother Catherine, his sister Mary-Brothers Paul and wife Shelia, Greg and wife Nancy, Patrick, and Christopher and wife Dana. There are also oodles of nieces and nephews along with an abundance of friends and finally a very sad dog named Coco.
Bill was a larger than life character. He had a heart of gold and his passing will leave all who knew him feeling a bit empty inside. To say he will be missed is a gross understatement; however, the only solace here is that you can now firmly reclaim your seat driving the bus! A celebration of Life will be held at Bubs Irish Pub in Germantown from 1-6pm.
