The man I knew

I've known Reggie and Maggie for upwards of 50 years.  And for all those years the Brooks family treated me and my family like family.  They taught me to play cards during the summer sometimes till 4:00 in the morning.  He would take Bruce and I fishing and Bruce came home with the chiggers and no fish.  Reggie would bike to my mothers home and walk in and and announce himself and would always hive her a big hug.  She would just smile when she told me the story.

The one thing I've always remenbered about him was when his family came to visit at my parents at the trailer up North.  I was standing behind the camper and he came up to me and said,  Jim do you realize how lucky you and your brothers are?  I looked at him whth a a blank stare.  He then explained that he could see how much my parents loved me and the brothers.  I didn't understand but he told me that we lived with that love every day and just didn't realize it.

At the Brooks house Reggie didn't use duct tape for temporarly repairs he used athletic tape from his MATC coaching days.

This is the man I remember, kind, sharing, a teacher,  crazy at times but a good man.
