Grandma, you were a truly remarkable woman. Your independent spirit, charm, quick-wit and infectious smile were an inspiration to all. You had an uncanny memory, as you came to know many of my friends and their families through our social gatherings. As I heard time and time again, you were the life of the party. You've been my guiding light for 47 years, beginning with many 'overnights' spent with you and grandpa as a child. You were my babysitter, my playmate and my teacher all rolled into one! As I grew up, you, mom and I were inseparable as we shared in so many events, parties, dinners and, of course our card games. Then when mom passed we missed her terribly. Suddenly it was just you and me, and over time you became like a mother to me and, perhaps, I became like a daughter to you. Although I could never fill my mother's shoes, it was important to me to make sure your needs were met. Things seemed to be going well, until this last year when you experienced many hardships and complications that you were unable to overcome. While I will miss you dearly, I am happy that you are reunited with mom, grandpa and the rest of your family in heaven, and I feel truly blessed to have had you as my grandma!
