Memories of Ray

I have two favorite memories of Ray and his family. The first occurred one evening at my home when Ray, Gert, their son Terry and other friends were visiting. We were in the family room and someone began playing guitar.. Music and singing filled the room. Then Gert picked up a harmonica, started playing and had the entire room of friends clapping, hootin' and a hollerin'! I looked over at Ray seated on the couch next to Gert. He was looking at her with the biggest smile on his face that I had ever seen. Such happiness resonated from him. I will never forget that look of delight...a memory I will always cherish! The second memory actually reminds me of the special "helpful nature" of the Stickney family....always ready to offer a hand when anyone needed help. On this occasion Ray, Gert and Terry came by to assist me in putting up 300 to 500 twinkling lights on my patio roof. I can still picture Terry with many strings of lights, Ray on the ladder with the staple gun and Gert holding a broom handle, keeping the string of lights up high as Ray attached them to the roof. It was quite a picture of family lending a helping hand with Ray at the helm. The lights are still up and create a wonderful glow on the patio in the evening, reminding me of Ray and family. He will be missed but his spirit lives on in our hearts and memories.
