My Grandmother, GranBillie, was a big part of my life, with a laugh that lights up the room and with the spirit that changed my life. I was and still am blessed to have a grandmother that cared for my family and I. She played an important role in my life as a grandmother because she was there every step of the way with me. The very last memory I have with GranBillie was when she came down to spend a weekend at my house. Every time that we saw each other started with a hug, then a "How's it going?" then that would lead into the rest of the conversation. This weekend was one of the biggest weekends for me and I am glad I got to spend it with her. She came to cheer me on a National History Day regionals. She had also attended my horse competition and although it was cold outside, she still cared to watch. Those two events were very important tome and I know that she wants me to succeed in life, which is why she attended those events. There were many events that she played a role in whether it was a big or small event, but whatever event she attended made me feel proud of my work because GranBillie reminds me of a person who goes above and beyond any expectations that are given to her. At the age of 83 years young she worked at the family business Belchfire Corp. At this age many people would have retired by now, but not GranBillie. She worked because she felt that working kept her mind flowing and sharp. But overall she loved working. She didn't care how old she was, she was proud of working and I'm sure everyone was propud of her too. Moving on to the subject of Thanksgiving and Christmas. When these holidays came around she would be the first to arrive as well as my Aunt Michelle. I would like to recognize Aunt Michelle because I know that GranBillie, Michelle's Mom, was a big part of Michelle's life. Michelle had a big bond with GranBillie. They would always take care of eachother. I am sure that this transformation is overwhelming but I am very sure that GranBillie is going to be watching over Michelle. Making sure she's okay, making sure that she's safe. And I am very sure that Michelle knows that GranBille is still here with us today. Although this tragedy was very unexpected, we can all agree that she is having the time of her life with the love of her life Grandpa Lloyd Purnell Sr., up in heaven with God. After about 20 years I am sure that they have plenty to catch up on. We may think that she isn't standing in front of us another day in our life, but all we know she may have joined us today and could be standing next to me, or sitting next to you. All I know is that she is here with us today and she is sending us a message that everything is all right. Now I know that the passing of GranBille is hard to take on but I am sure that she wouldn't want us to cry all day, I am sure that she would want us to celebrate her life because she knows that she was very fortunate to live tot he age that she did, 83.

Somewhere along the line my Aunt Billie must have taken life pretty seriously. You have to in order to make it turn out so well. I know she took the art and science of making life fun very seriously. There was intensity there, yet she always seemed very laid back. “Do your own thing” was her commandment. I can not begin to convey the fun our families had together, but then I am guessing those of you remembering Aunt Billie will all say the same thing. Bottom line; the Purnells have always been just flat out fun to be around and Aunt Billie anchored that. While my Uncle Lloyd dominated any boat, cabin, hunting camp, backyard, family room or office with his wit and strength of character, Aunt Billie hung back and was there for any contingency, any crazy mishap, and, I am sure, every business decision. She was welcoming, supportive, reassuring. I can’t remember a single negative comment ever coming out of her mouth, other than her favorite “Oooooh, you’re baaaaad.” Aunt Billie was a charter member of what is for me, the most exclusive club on earth, one whose members I respect beyond my powers of description; The Lake Eleanor Grown-ups. My Aunt Billie was the last of that group to leave us in body. But she will be remembered, loved and honored wherever and whenever we gather to have a good time.

Mom, Among all the wonderful things you did in your life you did the one greatest thing any mom can do and that was to be the greatest MOM anyone could hope to have. Lord knows I wasn't the easiest son to raise especially in my younger days but you always treated me as if I was the most wonderful SON anyone could hope to have. May our Lord raise you into paradise and bless you with his divine joy, peace and tranquility for all eternity.
