Obituary for Paul B. Doedens

The Rev. Dr. Paul B. Doedens, Pastor Emeritus at Crossroads Presbyterian Church, Mequon , WI , passed away on Monday, June 8, 2015 of natural causes. He was 87 and still shining with the light of Christ and maintaining a joyful spirit throughout life’s adversities. Rev. Doedens is survived by his wife of 64 years, Connie, sons Mark (Jill), Timothy (Katherine), Andrew (Sandra), Daniel (Kathleen) and daughter Deborah (Paul) Segebrecht as well as many grand children and great grand children who all love and respect the man of God he was.

Rev. Doedens was the founding pastor for Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon, WI from 1957 - 1992. The doors to this church were open to anyone and everyone, for it was Paul’s desire that every person would know how much God loves them and that He sent His son, Jesus, to die on the cross so that we could all be set free. Rev. Doedens pursued his passion for people throughout his whole life by being continuously involved in various organizations. While at Crossroads, he served on numerous committees of the Presbytery of Milwaukee, the Board of Trustees for Carroll University and many Ozaukee County boards and committees while also growing Crossroads from a start-up church to roughly 1500 members. From Crossroads Church, he semi-retired to Green Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley, AZ where he served as the fourth pastor of Valley Presbyterian Church for six years. Following Valley Church , Rev. Doedens served two years as the Developmental Pastor for Mountain Shadows Presbyterian Church in Tucson , AZ. Following Mountain Shadows, Rev. Doedens returned to Wisconsin to pastor the Community Presbyterian Church in Lac du Flambeau, WI., where he served until his retirement in 2005 at age 78. He served in the ministry for 52 years and probably would have preached until the day the Lord took him had his health allowed. Upon retirement, Rev. and Mrs Doedens moved to Grafton , WI , to be back closer to family. The two most important things in Rev. Doedens' life were his God, and his family, as was evidenced by the path's he followed, in the churches he served and through the examples he set for his family. He was God’s humble servant who fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.

A Memorial Service is planned for Saturday, June 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Crossroads Presbyterian Church in Mequon, WI with times of visitation before (4:00 p.m.) and after the service (until 8:00 p.m). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Niki Doedens Scholarship Fund or The Crossroads' Foundation.
