Buttitta, Bernice A. “Mitzi”
(nee Schmidt) Born to Eternal Life July 16, 2015 at the age of 90. Preceded in death by her Beloved husband and dearest friend Paul Buttitta. Loving mom of Kenneth (Cindy), Judith (Terry) Lanza-Dykstra, Patrice (John) Keller, Susan (Jeffrey) Schmidt, and Steven (Laurie). Much loved Grandma to Jared (Brooke) and Nathan Buttitta, Eric Lanza, Lori Lanza, Gregory (Kirsten) Lanza, Jesse (Angela) Dykstra, Erin (Eric) Marquardt, Timothy (Rachel), Douglas, and Daniel Keller, Adam and Alexandria Schmidt, and Stephanie Gehrke. Also survived by 9 great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Buddy Schmidt, LaVerne (the late Emil) Leuzinger, the late Dolores (the late Keith) McGarvey, the late Leonard (the late Pat) Schmidt, Ronald (Sandra) Schmidt, Barbara (Thomas) Braun, the late Marilyn Toth, Laurel (Robert) Kult. Sister-in-law of the late Nick (the late Marion), Grace (Joseph) Foti, the late Peter (Dolores), and the late Frank (Dolores). Also survived and loved by many nephews, nieces, and friends. Preceded in death by her parents Peter and Irene Schmidt and special life-long friend and traveling companion of Audrey and Al Dietrich.
Bernice was a charter member of St. Bernadette Catholic Parish and for 25 years was the school secretary. To the hundreds of students who shared their school days with her she was, and still is, known as "Mrs. B".
Visitation Wednesday, July 22, 4-8 PM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 8200 W. Denver Ave. Visitation also Thursday, July 23, 9-10 AM at the Church with a Funeral Mass Thursday at 10 AM. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Bernice’s wish was that donations be made in Paul’s name to Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
Bernice treasured the opportunities she was given to take care of others throughout her life.
