My wife and I knew David as he was growing up in grade school. He was one of the infamous "Three Mouseketeers" as my wife and I would call them... David, Joe Brennan and our son, Tom Pritchard. Rarely, if ever, would they go anywhere without all three of them together... fishing in the Mequon pond up the road, riding ATVs around David's house or exploring the vast field behind our house which was then the old Heyden Garden Center. They all grew up too quickly, but tight they remained. Once in awhile I would later see David when he would re-connect with Tom. I remember one time he was showing off his new truck or new used truck...can't remember. All I know is that it was HUGE. I had to laugh as I saw David standing next to it. He still had his rosey red cheeks -- and seemed somewhat drawfed by the size of the truck. I think I said something like "Jesus Chri** Dave, can you even climb up into that thing?" He laughed and demonstrated quickly how much command he had over the truck. One thing was for certain, David loved his toys -- and the bigger the better. I think the last time I saw him was little over a year or two ago when he stopped by again to visit Tom. He was working the truck driving circuit or something like that...working late, too. He was always working, I remember that! In fact, right out of high school he started working. And working and working. He was truly an industrious, go-getter young man. But time flies. Joe Brennan went into the military. Tom went on to college. And Dave continued working. It's so hard to think of these boys now and the memories I have of them. I wish they would have stayed young kids forever. But I'll always be grateful I have a few lasting memories of David -- and The Three Mouseketeers.
